dVMo Traincam - Platform and Track to Train Video

TrainCam

Whilst station platforms are often covered by surveillance cameras, the images are generally available only within the station and not to the driver or guard of a train. On approaching the station they may have no idea of the conditions at the platform and even whilst stationary this information is not generally available.

With TrainCam this changes. Video from the existing platform camera system can be transmitted directly to a monitor in the cab or guard's compartment allowing them a real-time picture of the platform and track environment; on approach, whilst stationary and on departure.

TrainCam is based on the very successful dVMo platform first developed for use by police, emergency services and military arequiring the ability to provide real time video and surveillance links to and from a moving vehicle or aircraft.

TrainCam is an extension of that capability to the railway environment.

Requiring no operator intervention, TrainCam provides SD (DVD) quality video images and operates independently of any other radio or wireless technologies that may be in use. It is equally applicable to large and small stations with single or multiple platforms and is not dependent on the availability of 3G or other carrier-provided services.

Multiple transmit antennas and diversity receive antennas provide robust operation in tunnels and underground environments and seamless coverage between tunnel and platform..

  • Over-air Coded Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex optimised to minimise the effects of multi-path RF signals in difficult environments like stations and tunnels
  • Full SD Frame rate and 50ms video latency enable "real-time" viewing and high levels of Forward Error Correction (FEC) ensure high picture quality maintained
  • Maximum Ratio Combining (MRC) receiver system using 2 antennas providing spatial diversity enabling greater range to be achieved down the tunnel
  • Multiple video capability over single RF channel allowing single transmitter per station (up to 4 videos). The control system will tell the receiver which video to decode when approaching station. This eliminates any platform-to-platform RF problems and reduces the number of frequencies required in more complex station environments
